Buying Plants

Currently, the two best ways to get native plants are seasonal plant sales local nurseries such as Harb's Oasis, Maypop Hill or Almost Eden. We also offer a variety of trees, shrubs and wildflowers through our propagation program. Through propagation, we hope to conserve the local genetics of wild native plants from forests in our area.

For native plant sales, check the CANPS Calendar to find dates for  and follow us via our monthly emails and Facebook page for updates. A few really good sales that we know of are:
  • PlantFest at Hilltop Arboretum - Spring and Fall
  • Baton Rouge Green's Tree for All at Burden Botanic Gardens
  • Mostly Natives Sale at Briarwood Nature Preserve
  • Crosby Arboretum Fall/Spring Native Plant Sale, Arbor Day Sale
  • Others to try: BR Master Gardeners Spring Plant Sale at Burden (March), Independence Botanic Garden Plant Sale and LSU AgCenter Gardening Expo (April)
